DeChellis Tales: Sea World/La Jolla Adventure

It was a fun-filled day of adventure at Sea World and a lovely wedding day for Anna and Daniel in La Jolla.

We left for San Diego as quickly as we could get out the door and arrived at Sea World right at nap time. So we had a couple sleepy guys but they pulled it together and perked up for the touch tanks at the front of the park. We rushed through the touch tanks to make it to the Shamu show. The boys loved it, as did I. I tried to capture their faces with pictures and video because they were very impressed. After the show we explored the park. When we realized their lack of sleep was becoming a problem we rented the last double stroller and suddenly we could make it from point A to point B without feeling like we were herding cats. We did a few rounds in the turtle aquarium thinking they would fall asleep but as soon as they started to drift they would perk up with excitement again. We made it through all the aquariums finished our visit with the doldin show. When we left the park Michael told me he had a great time at the aquarium and all the parts were his favorite part.

Sleepy Rafael needed some snuggles

I couldn't get Michael out of the stroller to take a picture with one of his favorite animals, the turtle.

But once he saw this turtle, he wanted out so he could climb on it. He was very excited and said "it's just like one small turtle!" He was referring to one of his favorite books, One Tiny Turtle.

Sharks! This was the closest I could get Michael to turn and look at me for a picture. He was mesmerized.

It was refreshing to visit the Arctic Adventure. We saw majestic beluga wales, tons of penguins that Michael pointed out were as big as him, and even a polar bear. Wow! I think Michael was most excited about the escalator guiding us through the Penguin arena. Rafael liked to pretend he was interested in viewin an animal, then once we put him down, he'd make a run for it. He very much enjoying thr game of chase through the crowds that Joey and I weren't thrilled about.

We told the boys they could each select one souvenir. Rafael immediately grabbed a penguin bigger than he and cuddled it while walking it up to the register. Unfortunately, the penguin he chose practically cost as much as our car payment, so we had to convince him to settle on a smaller penguin. The boys love their souvenirs though. Michal has named his shark "Sharky" and it hasn't left his side yet. Rafael named his penguin "Boo-boo".

As our Sea World adventure came to a close, we made our way to our hotel room, which had an incredible view of a train yard on the left, boats on the right and a long bridge. The boys loved the watching all the vehicles and I enjoyed watching the sun set over the bay.

The next morning the boys met up with the Mopsy-Popsy crew for breakfast as I rested. Michael enjoyed visiting "Mopsy and Popsy's new house". Then it was on to the main event of Anna's wedding in the land of cousins. We've since assured Michael that Mopsy and Popsy moved back into their old house.
